Summer totes

May 1, 2008 at 10:28 am | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I will be introducing a new line of summer totes. They will have a variety of pockets. I think they will sell better if they have clever names and I don’t want to copy anyone…..so help me design and I will name a tote after you.

First in the series is the Brenda.

This navy blue denim tote is top stitched with rows red.

It is disguised as an ordinary tote, but lurking inside are 2 pockets deep and gusseted enough to carry a water bottle or sippy cup. The other side features a pocket long enough to conceal a box of travel wipes and a secret zipper compartment.  There is a patch pocket on the outside ready for instant access.

If your cover is blown you could turn it inside out and show off the cream and blue striped ticking.

So…what do you think? Do you need a new tote?

canvas totes

This is the cutest fabric. It is a regular cotton. The baby animals are black and the background is cream. I have several yards. I think it could be a surprise/signiture lining. What should we make out of it?

I took a few pictures of some of my fabric stash so that you can choose your own canvas tote.

The tote will measure about 12″ tall, 10″ across and 3″ deep. The shoulder strap will be approx. 30″ long. I sew the strap on with a secure “X in a square”. There will be a pocket on each side of the inside of the tote, one divided into two sections and the other will go from side seam to side seam and close with a self covered button and elastic. $30 includes US 1st class shipping. International 1st class shipping is $35.

Here are some of the fabrics I have on hand and I can make one for you today and have it in the mail to you in 2 days.

I have to work around my kids and husbands schedule…if they would just quit eating I would have more time to sew.

This one is a lilac/pink/purple with purple, hot pink, white and lime green ovals.

These are lime green, hot pink, and the paisley has orange in it.

These all are a soft mossy green. The solid is demin weight.

This is a vintage ticking. I have a dark navy blue demin on hand. Do you want any flowers or another pattern to go with this? I can start sewing the sample tomorrow.

Did anyone see the perfect bag for themselves?

Let’s design one together and then I’ll post it in my etsy store for you to purchase.

Works in Progress

How many projects are you working on right now?

The whole purpose is to make something and list it on etsy.

Then my 6th grader needs a Laura Ingalls Wilder bonnet and apron to wear during her probe/speech. I had to buy a pattern, so I can’t sell them because I didn’t write the pattern. She got extra credit for being in costume.

I’ve knit several neck warmers and scarf using a stitch pattern book. But it is the wrong season. They may be presents.

And then there are the knit wallets. They are the perfect size to carry everything you need for a dash to the store, but are too big to fit in your pocket. I think I will put a long strap on them to wear as a purse.

Now the new here is the new bag inspired by SAJ post yesterday. What do you think?

The bag is 13″ across when laid flat, 12″ tall and 3″ deep. The strap is 2″ wide and 24″ long. The fabric is a navy blue plaid  woven cotton. The lining is dark navy blue. There is a single 5 1/4″ X 6 1/4″ pocket on the inside.dscf3015.jpgdscf3013.jpg

If this looks like it would work I can make a ton from my stash.

Kids in comments

March 10, 2008 at 6:15 am | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I made a dreadful mistake when leaving a comment on someone elses blog. Most of the times I don’t name my kids, but have in the past, because I didn’t think it could come back to me. Anyway…my son googled his name the other day, first and last, and 4th item down was a comment I had made. It wasn’t a bad comment, but it did upset him. The problem is that I didn’t realize that the combination of his name on his aunts blog would put the two names together.

Can those comments be deleted? or at least have his name be replaced with “my son” or “my kid”?

Thanks.

Tea time ETSY style

There were four of us at tea time today. All four of us are knitters. That wasn’t even planned. As far as I could tell none of us had ever met before.

We traded business cards, discussed a symposiums ideas about marketing yourself, checked out a knitting website and ate cookies.

It was crazy to realize we all lived within 15 minutes of each other and shopped at the same crafts and thrift stores. I left with a lift of websites and newsletters to get involved with.

Thanks for a lovely afternoon Bread and Badger

Control

March 6, 2008 at 11:36 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

We all need a little control in our lives. For some of us we get that control with our crafts. We can bend, mold and twist our projects into submission in ways we could never control our spouses or children.

Yesterday I started my first pair of hand knit socks. Why? I’m not sure. I think I’m at a point in my knitting that I should try a challenge. And I think I want to make a pair for my father-in-law who has everything else that he needs.

My mom has introduced me to a technique that allows you to make BOTH socks at the same time. You use two circular needles. This way you are assured that the gauge is exactly the same on both socks.

I saw a show the other day where a designer made a mobius scarf. You need a 47″ circular needle. I can’t find one at a price I’m willing to pay, in the size called for ….so I’m making one. Of course by the time I’m done it will probable cost three times as much as just ordering one off the internet. If When it works I can make size 10 needles in any length I want. Handmade needles anyone?

I think, I hope I have this figured out. I need to diet. I need to lose weight. I feel that all I do is think about food and that isn’t good. The other day I got to thinking that maybe the key was to THINK about food a lot and maybe that way I would have the right stuff around and wouldn’t me frantically scarfing just any old thing down.

So, What did you have for dinner last night? I need some new recipes and ideas.

Un-knitting

I’m working on a pair of fingerless gloves for SAJ. I had them almost done, but something bugged me about them. So….I ripped them completely apart and started over. This time they look right. I hope she will be as happy about them as I am.

Now, if I could be that much of a perfectionist about the housework!!!

High speed is not all it should be

January 26, 2008 at 7:28 am | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I think this will drive me around the bend. In the time it took to type the title I had to get rid of 3 pop-ups. And everytime I have gotten on a weird spybot thing is there and won’t let me in.

On a better note….I made a bunch of magnets with fancy metal buttons. I’m going to run outside and take some pictures. Hopefully I can get them posted before the old man comes home.  He has a big job getting the computer all in order.

And the picture won’t show up on the tv when the cable is on…so we’re watching Harry Potter on DVD.
